Montecristo 500 M

The LOCMAN Montecristo collection was born in the late nineties with the first Montecristo Automatic, featuring an 18 Kt Gold case and Erica Wood.

The idea, then as now, remains to create something rare, and unique, just like the island of Montecristo, that inspires it. For centuries now a natural reserve, completely uninhabited, Montecristo represents an unattainable myth.

Since 2009, the collection has evolved technically with a more modern line that combines high technology and hyper-functional design with a strong vocation for the sea and nature, pristine and engaging. The study of innovative techniques has thus allowed the creation of a new model in the range: Montecristo 500 Metres.

The Montecristo 500 Metres watch is the quintessence of LOCMAN’s iconic collection, representing the pinnacle of design and avant-garde that defines the brand.
This watch reflects its marine heritage in every detail and carries with it the power and beauty of the element from which it originates: the sea.

Montecristo 500M features the Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement, a symbol of Swiss excellence and precision.

The 43 mm stainless steel case with sapphire glass provides solidity, while the titanium back decorated with the engraving of a starfish adds distinctive lightness, creating a perfect balance between robustness, style and comfort. Designed to explore the depths of the sea and equipped with a helium valve, the Montecristo 500M is a reliable companion for deep diving enthusiasts, ensuring waterproofness up to 50 atmospheres (500 metres).

The valve is positioned on the left side of the case and serves to release excess pressure during decompressions in a hyperbaric chamber. During deep dives, divers must breathe a mixture of helium and oxygen to avoid the effects of nitrogen narcosis, a condition that at high depths can cause fainting and disorientation.

Since helium molecules are extremely small, they can penetrate the watch seals, compromising their functions. The helium valve allows trapped helium to safely escape.
