DECIMO CANTO

It’s a story of a hundred years that leads to the birth of Decimo Canto, LOCMAN’s latest creation, which is the result of a collaboration between Sandro Fratini, one of the world’s leading watch collectors and founder of the L’O brand, and Marco Mantovani, the president of LOCMAN.

The mechanical watch was already known and existed in Italy in the 1300s, as illustrated by Dante Alighieri in the Paradiso of the Divine Comedy, specifically in the Decimo Canto, where the Poet refers to the chimes of monastic alarm bells of that time. Influential figures of the Renaissance in Tuscany, such as Filippo Brunelleschi, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Galileo Galilei, were dedicated to the art of watchmaking.

Inspired by this remarkable history of excellence and after years of experience, this collection combines technology, creativity, and craftsmanship.

A LOVE POEM to ITALIAN WATCHMAKING

The 38mm steel case of Decimo Canto is made with polished titanium, a material with a platinum-like luster, paying homage to one of the primary features of the Elban maison, among the first watchmakers to introduce a watch with this finish.

The case features three flounces, reminiscent of the three cantiche of the Commedia, joined by four lugs embracing the strap, highlighting the design’s distinctiveness and volumes. The crown, with an internal o-ring seal, ensures water resistance to 5 atmospheres and is adorned with a stone that matches the dial’s material. The leather strap complements each watch’s character, paired with a polished titanium bracelet in the more technical version.

Crafted with semi-precious stones, the dials of Decimo Canto emphasize the contemporary design of the case, making each timepiece exclusive with unique designs and nuances. Mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli, malachite, tiger eye, red jasper, and turquoise give the watch a distinctive materiality.

For the most precious versions featuring natural white diamonds set on the dial and case lugs, LOCMAN partnered with Crivelli, a prestigious Italian company renowned for interpreting high jewelry concepts.

The Case and Dial

Decimo Canto features the mechanical hand-wound made in Italy OISA Caliber 29-50 Cinque Ponti movement. The movement, visible through the colored crystal case back echoing the dial’s hues, showcases a handmade Côtes de Genève finish on the bridges enclosing the gear train and a handmade perlage finish on the main plate. Equipped with 19 rubies, the time regulation is of the “Masselottes” type, carried out by counterweights on the balance wheel’s handwheel.
The watch boasts a winding autonomy of 60 hours, with a daily chronometric tolerance of +/- 10 seconds.

Canto X 35 mm is powered by a Ronda quartz time-only movement.
